Using a mobility scooter sightseeing in London - is it do-able?

Options
I fancy a couple of days in London later this year, a trip up the Shard (got an experience voucher as a xmas present), Borough market, Science Museum ...

All stuff that is very hard on the feet and legs, which I'm not good at at all. I have a folding mobility scooter which fits in my car boot, and use that around town and national trust visiting & so on, but I'm wondering how viable it is in London. OK I won't be able to go on the underground, thats for sure, but can i take it on London Buses? Will taxi drivers take it (Hubby or teenage son will be there to lug it in & out of the cab).

I've found a couple of hotels with car parking, so we can drive down and dump the car. I just don't want to struggle round for 2 or 3 days , leaning heavily on dear hubby, because we both pay for it with pain for a week or so afterwards.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

I'm sure the tfl.gov.uk site will have information on public transport.

Some underground stations do have accessible lifts. Link below is a good place to start

Before we changed over to a Powerchair we used a Scooter in London on various occasions and to be truthful it was very easy !
Transport For London website has an accessibility section which is very comprehensive with guidance on various methods of travel in London and would recommend you read it :)
All Black Cabs in London have access ramps so no lugging required just drive in and out :)
Loads of drop kerbs make moving around very easy at crossings !
Borough Market ? unless you go mega early it is really not suitable for a scooter user due to the amount of people who go there which makes moving around very hard !
Enjoy your trip and if we can give one piece of advice that has helped us ..... telephone the venue your interested in to check accessibility as things can change quickly in London :)

Thanks very much EycplUK for your encouraging post.

Someone told me a few years ago that black cabs wouldn't take scooters at all !!

My only question would be whether the battery would last long enough for a day out around the city or whether it can be recharged somewhere.

*I have no knowledge of mobility scooters and how efficient they are.
