My fiancee has booked rooms at bluewater aparthotel in Manchester Central for her hen do next may. She found out last night that it closed in December ish as it has gone into liquidation. All monies had been paid in full upfront and now their is no way of contacting them (tried the numbers and emails) also rang the bank as it was paid on debit card whom have said it is not covered none of the party have travel insurance either. Is their any advice anyone can offer or has that money (£600) gone

I'm afraid as she didn't use a credit card or take out any insurance, your fiancee is just another creditor... she can join the queue (get in touch with whoever was appointed to wind things up) but shouldn't expect much (if anything) back. Perhaps should look on what basis it was owned and shut down. In some circumstances, you can sue those responsible for negligence/fraud/etc but pretty hard to do and not worth it for the money involved.

Unless it's changed in recent years then the failure of the supplier would be covered by the debit card schemes Chargeback rules.
She should call the bank and say that she wishes to raise a dispute / chargeback on the transaction in question as the supplier (the hotel) has failed to provide the goods / services and is in administration.
She may be required by the bank to obtain a letter from the administrators that confirms they have ceased trading and that no payments etc will be made to unsecured creditors.

I don't need or want a credit card,but I also pay large amounts of cash by debit card and would feel forced to get a credit card for that protection0 -

The main problem in getting a refund is getting the call centre agent to accept that you can actually do it. Most banks will attempt to mug you off on first attempt.The man without a signature.0 -
A few years ago my OH booked us a helicopter ride, and before we ad the trip, the company went bust, found out about this on this site, so I googled the company, and printed some information from the company site, and rang the bank and claimed chargeback, completed documents the bam key sent to us, included the document from googled. Received money back.
We used debit card to pay for the trip, and was with nat West Bank.

My fiancee rang natwest this afternoon who as some of you pointed out were dismissive and unhelpfull but she was not aware of the charge back scheme when she spoke to them
Going to try claiming it back using charge back scheme fingers crossed

Let this also show the importance of buying travel insurance as soon as you pay for anything for holidays. Martin Lewis is always mentioning it on his show when he talks about holidays!
I hope the bank does the chargeback for you.0
