Hot water thermostat on pressurised system

We have recently had a very expensive pressurised system put in our flat. The hot water is much too hot and although the thermostat has. Been turned down to lowest setting it has made no difference. I have noticed that ithe screen on the thermostat is blank unless hot water is actually on, then it displays the temp.
My plumber says it is only hot because once a week it has to reach 60, but it is scalding hot all the time.
Does anyone have experience of these new systems?

Thank you

Do you have a hot water cylinder that is heated indirectly by the boiler or is it a combi? If it is a cylinder, to which thermostat are you referring? The one in the boiler will show the temperature of the circulating water that indirectly heats the water in the cylinder. There should also be a thermostat on the cylinder and this is the one that controls the water temperature that comes out of your taps.

If that is the case, then a stuck or faulty motorised valve could be the source of the problem. It could be stuck in the open position.

    OP, we need more details.

I had problems with the temperature on my pressurised hot water when it was installed. The plumber said it should be like that ... his was... Turning the settings down made no difference.

The electrician who was working here a few weeks later was concerned by the water temperature so checked the wiring on the controller and it had been wired wrongly - I can't remember the details (it is documented somewhere - I think ti was wired so that the valve was always open) but it meant that the water was overheating, and with a pressurised system this wasn't a particularly great idea.

Sorting out the wiring resulted in water at a normal temperature when set at the middle of the dial (no display on mine). It might be worth getting a third party with experience of pressurised systems and the relevant qualifications to check the installation carefully.

(The installers also managed to set the frost stat to 20C, failed to fit the additional expansion tank required for the model of boiler they'd specified - despite me specifically requesting it - and made a number of other errors that I have since had fixed by people who know what they are doing. Never select a plumber or heating engineer based on who is available when your boiler packs up - if they're not busy, there's a reason for it!)
