Clydesdale Bank packaged account fees

Options
Hi there. I have a packaged account with the Clydesdale Bank for which I'm charged £13.50 a month. At the time I was told that I would save money on the interest I was paying on my overdraft by taking the account but this has not really been the case.

Has anyone here dealt with Clydesdale over these fees, did you have any success and do you think I'd have a case?

Whatever anyone did is irrelevant, to be blunt. Each complaint is dealt with on its own merits. If you feel the account was miss-sold then simply follow the guide here and complain and they'll decide. Do remember they will close this account and downgrade you to a free one so make sure you don't need/want any of the other package benefits like the travel insurance, phone insurance, breakdown cover and gadget insurance and if you have claimed on any of them the value of the claim will be deducted from any refund

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Thanks for the reply. Yeah I was going to move back to a free one anyway. I've never used any of the supposed benefits.

Make sure you mention this e.g. if you don't have a car or the travel insurance wouldn't cover you due to a pre-existing illness or age etc or if you have cover elsewhere as this will help your case

  • Yeah I don't have a car, only just passed my driving test actually. And the account does include breakdown cover.
  • I also had existing mobile phone insurance at the time.
