Hi new on here just need some advice, I was pre approved 100% for the mbna o% offer but when I applied it says I need to wait 7-10 days for a decision????
Don't get it if it's 100% which is why I applied why am I having to wait for a decision. Any advice welcome as obviously I have now had a full credit check.
Thanks

Sounds like it's been referred to an underwriter for a manual decision.
From the blurb on the Eligibility Checker it states the following:
It’s worth noting that pre-approval is not a cast-iron guarantee that you’ll get the card. In exceptional circumstances you could be declined for other reasons – the bank still has to carry out some checks for identity and fraud purposes, and there’s a very small chance some will fail on these.
What time did you complete the application? It was overnight (given the time of your OP) it could well be the system was "offline" for the night rather than anything to worry about.
I know Nationwide usually ask people to perform the soft search/application between 6am and 11pm, MBNA could well do the same. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I appreciate that it's frustrating to be declined for a "pre approved" card but as 20aday pointed out, it's not usually a cast iron guarantee. I've also attached this information from MBNA's website which I hope you find helpful.
Also, you can also contact the lender to see if they can provide further info on why your application was declined.0 -
Despite the eligibility check terms surely then this is not 100% and should be classed as 99%?
100% means it will definitely happen.0 -
From working in the industry a good tip:
If applying online for anything eg loan or credit card always try and apply between 9am-9pm. Dont do it after midnight etc. Reason being as systems update overnight applications made "out of hours" will be stored and reviewed the next day hence why you will get the "referred" message. Applying during normal hours will get an instant repsonse.0 -
I was the same with MSE credit club. 100% pre approved credit card and got an email a week later as accepted. I tried for a loan first which was 90% pre approved and got declined.0
