Expensive tyre wear

Checking my tyres a couple of weeks ago noted my rears were down to near 3mm so started looking at prices to change them.
Yesterday driving home on busy dual carriageway got a ' check tyre pressure' alarm, now I have had a bit of a slow leak on the offside rear needing a top up every 4 days but it was only two days since last top up so I thought it's getting worse, 5 minutes later started to feel the steering was off so looking for a place to stop as I got the to layby I was sure I had a near flat. Got out carefully as lot of traffic going past, rears looked good but front near side flat, as it had 5 to 6 mm tread I thought some debris on the road caused it, spare fitted by Auto aid.
Fast forward to today called into Kwik fit and fitter tell me the tyre had worn on the inner corner until it leaked and the other side is worn the same, he also said it's a pity as good tread all across.
I had a Hunter check about a year ago and the fronts needed a small adjustment.
Got another Hunter check done and toe in was out so now adjusted and two new front tyres fitted.
I still have to get the rears done so belt tightening time.
I have been driving for 50 years and had wear problems from tracking before but not like this, I had thought the fronts would be ok for another 12 months!

Its possible to knock out the tracking quite easily, stupid speedbumps or pothole, assuming you never go up and down kerbs etc.
To be that bad though shows your not checking them, you should have spotted the wear on the inner edges and got it sorted long before they became close for replacement.
Have you had the suspension checked for wear? A slight play in a balljoint or trackrod or steering can cause the tracking to go out very very quickly.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You'd checked the fronts, but hadn't looked at the entire width?
I'm struggling to see how they'd worn so far they "leaked". Pic?0 -
Car type, age, tyre size, brand?
Do you go over speed cushions a lot? They can cause severe inner edge wear.
Have you checked any owners club websites for similar issues? A friend had a BMW 5 series company car which wore all four tyres on the inside edges at an alarming rate.
My X type wore some tyres on the inside edges, but was fine with others.0
