I have had a Braun since my kids were babies and now they are nearly 28, still going, although we no longer use it very often.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • I got one for £4 and I've had it 15 years. Use it loads too,

As the OP asked for recommendations to help her buy one now, it would be great if you could let her know the model or at least the make.

I'm really good at remembering prices that I paid for things from years back, especially if I've got a bit of a bargain. Wish my memory was good for other things.

I bought a Braun when I weaned my eldest, to make her dinners...

...she's 24 now and I'm using the same one to make her baby's dinners.
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

What about a cheapie one to last a few months till your wedding? My last was from Wilko, cost about £5 and lasted a year (I make a lot of soup!)
  • We bought a cheapie Mr T's own one when our expensive one gave up the ghost after 10 years.

While it does the job, when we can afford it or it no longer works it is well worth paying the extra.
