Cheapest energy provider for South Wales area was Avro Energy as of 2/1/17 -switching seemed straight forward, although finally opted for First Utility 15 month fixed deal with a £100 CashBack offer from TopCashBack, the average saving based on full comparison with Ovo Energy lowest price fix was approx. £6 per month, Avro energy was an actual full saving of £10 a month based on average gas and electricity consumption and standing charges. Decided on First Utility because of combined real saving and cash back, also help they were offeing £60 in Amazon vouchers over course of 12 month contract. Our payments monthly with First Utility are actually £12 lower than Ovo offered - £90 per month as opposed to £102 with Over Better Energy, although monthly payment does not represent actual consumption, which is variable over the year.
A few words of caution, all Comparison sites i used, including Better Energy Club were comparing Ovo Simple Energy costs, rather than Better Energy costs, which are higher and hence gave false savings, to the tune of £80 a year on average - First Utility comparison system actually used Better Energy costs and came up with more accurate savings based on gas usage of 12,000 Kwh and Electricity of 4,000 Kwh based on three years of actual usage with Ovo Energy. On the whole I had zero complaints with Ovo and was a customer for 5 years, however they are now not as competitive as they used to be, so Switched this year as savings of more than £10 per month are not to be sneezed at - will review First Utility and give feedback after the first quarter.0
