My Conveyancer asking to pay extra to fast track my case

Nothing unusual about solicitors charging more for an urgent piece of work, but as others have said, in a conveyancing transaction it doesn't help you that much unless everyone else is also treating it urgently. Your solicitors can't unilaterally make the whole thing happen at three times the speed (well, they might if all the delays are actually in their hands, but they can't guarantee anything).0

It is hard to see how they can guarantee any time scale as so many things are out of their control.
If it is important to you and they claim to be able to get it done in three weeks, why not agree to pay an extra £500 if it is all done by 27th January? Make sure it's in writing!0 -
Its a while ago now since I did it, but I managed to go from agreeing a purchase to completion (with a mortgage, albeit agreed in principle) in 28 days. In December.
We did need a fast turnround as the vendors were likely to lose their onward purchase if we couldn't complete quickly, and with Christmas looming as well to delay things. When this was politely explained to everyone, they managed to pull together & get things done.
The solicitor we were using did mutter "At one time we would tell the buyers when to complete, not the other way round". But kudos to him, he did us proud. Wish he was still around!0 -
what ever you pay, you cannot fast track the vendor's solicitors, i.e out of your control."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
