DFDS Ferries - Newcastle to Amsterdam - when best to book for July 2017

Hello all,

We've decided upon a wee family holiday to the Netherlands in the first couple of weeks of July and need to book a ferry. We want to go from Newcastle to Amsterdam as we're based in the central belt of Scotland.

When is best to book the ferry to get the best deal? We know the dates we want to travel, and there's a 10% off offer if we book in January. Is this as good a discount as we're likely to get or would we get a better price if we wait until nearer the time?

Any advice welcomed!

They sometimes do a buy one get one free deal, why not ring them up and ask if they have any deals in the offing?
  • Thanks for that, Ganga.

Have you been successful in the past with a two for one deal?

2 for 1 operates off peak, so certainly not in July. When they can fill the ships the deals disappear and I very much doubt the staff even know when the offers are coming, the marketing department decides when the ships look as though they may have plenty of unsold space. If you can avoid the weekends, the ships apparently can get very 'boisterous' (not with the Scots of course...) and availability is better during the week as well.
