hotpoint / indeseit washing machine

Purchased a Hotpoint washing machine from Tesco direct and ordered the connection and fitting by the delivery driver option also.

Looking at the conditions that connection and fitting would be done one was that the power lead fitted directly in to the power point(no extension leads),so I needed to check the length of the power lead on the washing machine before it was delivered.

I phoned the Hotpoint help center and was eventually put through to a "technical & specification" expert (his words) and after asking him and telling him the model number he took a few minutes to check he then told me 1.7 meters, not such a technical question you would think and one a hotpoint "expert" should know.

yes, you`ve guessed it when the engineer turns up with the washing machine to fit it the lead is only 1.4 meters and does not extend to the power point. I had also had a kitchen fitter put a hole in the work surface so the so called 1.7 meter lead would get direct access to the power point obviously the 1.4 meter power lead does not.
I got in touch 2 weeks ago with hotpoint complaing of the inability of one of their so called experts to answer something as simple as the power lead length and they have not even been bothered to reply.
I will think twice about buying any of their products again.

Your delay could be because of the long holiday and a backlog of work.

I received an apologetic email , today, from a company that I contacted before Christmas.

Not too tricky to cut off the plug, fit another 30cm of flex (using a proper flex connector of the correct rating), and refit a new plug. Total cost-less than a fiver.
But, being a Hotpoint, you'll probably be replacing it in just over 12m anyway.

I had ordered the machine to be connected and fitted by their engineer and they will not do that unless the lead fits directly into the power point without any alteration they do not even allow for the plug to be taken off for the lead to get through a small hole and put back on or any form of extension hence the reason I phoned the HQs to get the correct length of lead.

    I stated in my OP

"Looking at the conditions that connection and fitting would be done one was that the power lead fitted directly in to the power point(no extension leads),so I needed to check the length of the power lead on the washing machine"

So I do not why you suggest cutting the lead off and extending the flex when I have already said that was not an option.

Still no reply from Hotpiint will be getting in touch again in the morning.

If you paid by credit card tell Hotpoint the machine is not as promised and you need it removed. Claim back the money directly from the credit card company.
    It's nothing , not nothink.
