"SGN GAS SAY"
In the event of an incident, we do our utmost to restore gas supplies as quickly as possible. However, after the first 24 hours, affected householders will be "compensated" for time without gas. You will receive £30 for each 24-hour period without gas, which is paid automatically through your gas supplier.

Hello Maxwell007 and I'm sorry you were without gas for 5 days last month.
Where domestic gas supplies fail and customers weren't pre-warned, the gas transporter will aim to restore the supply within 24 hours. If they don't, they'll pay £30. After this, they'll pay another £30 for every extra 24 hours customers are off supply up to a maximum of £1000.
Sometimes, the gas transporter will ask us to pay compensation on their behalf. At other times, they'll pay it directly to the customers affected. If they want us to make the payments, they'll let us know who is due compensation and the amount. We must do this within 10 working days of their request.
In the first instance, it's best to talk to your gas transporter. They'll let you know what's happening and who will be making any payments. Details of your gas transporter and how to contact them are on your bills.
There are some circumstances that aren't covered by this guarantee. These are usually where the circumstances are beyond the control of the transporter. Things like severe weather, industrial disputes, safety reasons etc.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction Maxwell007.
