Just joined here but cant seem to find any information on the HSBC passport account, I lived away from the UK between 2003-2009, when I returned home HSBC would not give me a basic bank account they told me I had to have a HSBC passport account, this is essentially for foreigners/visitors to the UK, I paid £8 a month for this account for I think about 6 years when they scrapped it and turned it into a basic account, anyone know if its possible to reclaim the fees I paid.

On what basis do you think they have done anything wrong?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

HSBC hardly forced you to take the account as you could have simply opened an account elsewhere.
I doubt you'll get a refund as you don't appear to have a valid complaint.0 -
Sorry to rattle your cage, just enquiring, I found out later than I should have been entitled to a basic account but they told me the only one I could have was a passport account, ah always the way when your just asking advice, now I know, thank you.0
