Second hand car fault
Options
Hi,
Looking for some advice regarding a car we just purchased (From a second hand fairly large dealer they have 4-5 sites), the total price was around 10k and its a 2011 hyundai IX35. When sold the car we were told it was perfect just had a service and had full service history. we have had it around 2 weeks now, first week we noticed a slow puncture (they had put two new tyres on) not a big issue easy to fix... then problems with starting it would tick over and not start at all one point we called AA because we had been trying for 45 minutes this was happening intermittently. then a fuse went in the car so the airbag light was on. we have been back and forth 3 times now waiting around all day no courtesy car offered.
Now we have been told it needs to go to england for a hyundai specialist to look at it (We are being supplied with a hire car this time) we are really worried now that we have just bought this car in good faith and its had all these issues and when the 6 month warrenty is up anything can happen.. do we have grounds to exchange it for a different car?
Thanks,
Jack

You would be within your rights to reject the car and ask for a refund.
There has probably been an intermittent fault with the car and the previous owner has quietly traded it in rather than pay to have it sorted.0 -
Indeed. You are quite within your rights to reject the car as it has been sold with a fault. You need to read up on the Consumer Rights Act and approach this with a calm and sensible head, don't go in making threats straight away. It will be much quicker and easier for everyone if it gets sorted out between you and the dealer.0
