Another silly question about Ryanair cabin luggage size.

Hi all,
My question is slightly similar, albeit a bit different, from one of the earlier threads.
We all know that Ryanair allows a 55cmx40cmx20cm sized cabin bag, plus potentially another smaller one sized 30x20x20. And we also know that they can be strict if they want to and it's better to be safe than sorry.
However, I went to the local B&M store. There's a nice, cheep and cheerful cabin bag for only £14.99. I've checked it my measure tape, which might not necessarily be accurate, and it appears to be 56x41x19. On the accompanying label the size is stated as 55x40x19. So, either my tape is wrong or it is effectively 1cm bigger on two sizes.
I've seen another, more expensive bag at debenhams for £59. It has a "Ryanair cabin luggage approved" tag with a blue and yellow logo. I measured it and this also appears to be 1cm bigger.
My questions:
1) Would I get away with 1cm over the limit?
2) if I leave the tag on the bag, would they accept it?
(I've actually asked a lady working at B&M if they had a tape. She couldn't find one, but she told me she has the exact same bag and she never had a problem with Ryanair)
Thanks

If it doesn't measure up then there is a chance that you will be stopped and will have to pay to get it on the flight. A lot of labels are misleading and incorrect.
I have had one of these for over 5 years (back when it was called a subzero luggage not IT) and it has gone around the world with me and held up being stuffed to the brim.
Argos IT Cabin bag0 -
When you measured the bag, did you include the handle and wheels?
I'm not sure why you would think your measuring tape might not necessarily be accurate.
I'd take my own measurements over what a label said any day.
When I was looking for a new cabin bag, the labels were wrong compared to my own measurements.
You may or may not get away with 1cm.
If you don't get away with it, it will be a costly decision not to comply with what the airline says.
Ryanair will not take any notice of what size a tag says.
Neither will they accept that 'the woman in the shop' didn't have a problem with the same bag.0 -
I'm another one with the Subzero/IT cabin bag. I've got 3. 2 are different sizes one of which is Ryanair size, the other is slightly bigger and is max hand luggage size. They weigh next to nothing and are brilliant. The original one I've had for years. OH doesn't check luggage when he travels on business and it's been well used and is still going strong.0

Yes I included handle and wheels.
I've double checked with another tape and it's still 56 cm.
Out of curiosity I went to House of Fraser and measured all suitcases labeled as cabin bags, and they were all 56 cm, despite the label saying 55.
I can see why they all size at 56cm but why label them 1 cm shorter? I'm pretty sure not everybody goes shopping with a measuring tape!0 -
Is there any flex in it? It only needs to fit in the measuring cages, if it's not too rigid for you to squidge it in it should be Ok.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
