New Windows x7 - Safestyle

Local window firm gave us a quote of £2900 for 7 windows, I priced them up me supplying them comes in at £2k therefore £100 to fit each. We've used local firm before but relations are not good as there work was substandard and had to be rectified by them.
Safestyle initially came in at £3100 after "calling his boss", I advised them that I'm not into that and they left. Now they want to come back and see if they can give me a better price.
I can't find a good review on the net, I assume that everyone posts just bad stuff.
Anyone?

Which magazine ran a detailed article on double glazing in November. Safestyle were ranked bottom, marginally behind Everest, and both were behind than Anglian. In practical terms not a lot to separate these three. The verdict, which you will always here on this Forum, is go with a good, local, independent company.
Safestyle know what you require so why do they need to return? Perhaps they think they can pressure sell to you this time round?0 -
Safestyle and other chains do not have any standard quality as they just use local tradesmen, and probably the cheapest ones they can find. They do not have much interest (if any) in doing a decent job and getting repeat business through recommendations.
Hence, they are generally not a good option.0 -
The words "do not touch with a barge pole" spring to mind. Dishonest company, they employ all the sales tactics in the book (as you've already seen), I wouldn't invite them back on principle. There must be another local firm that can give you a fair price.0

Hi all,
They contacted me earlier. I advised them i wanted to give it a miss for now, and left it with that. The phone started to ring again which i have ignored. We did have a UPVC door and new window installed by a local firm, however the quality of finish wasnt that good. We shall invite a few around to give us more quotes.
For us, i guess it was ease that its done the same day by a large firm who has the money to come back and fix faults.
Thanks again.0 -
Another vote for a local independent, ask friends and family for any recommendations.
I've used Safestyle for windows, very unprofessional, threw wet paper at my walls and ceilings and weed in my garden!! I've used Everest for gutters and had to have them back I don't know how many times to fix the leak between my house and next doors.
I've used local firms in my new place, cheaper, better job, better after sales service. My family have gone on to use them for jobs in their own homes.0 -

Stay local and price around . cost isn't everything though . quality is more important . what sizes are we looking at and is the supply only from the local firm fitting them because that doesn't add up . 2k supply only seems expensive but we don't know ant details . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
