Faster Payment Returned (Tesco to Santander)

Made a faster payment from my Tesco current account to my Santander current account and payment never arrived whereas normally goes through in a matter of minutes as have done this transaction many a time. Shortly after 24 hours elapsed it reappeared in my Tesco account as 'FP returned'. Tesco say they sent the payment and must be error at Santander end; Santander say no evidence that they ever received it let alone returned it. Anyone had similar issue before?

    Yes, I had this a few weeks ago.- £1000 sent to my Santander account from Tesco, didn't show up. I then got a 'Returned' entry in my Tesco account a day or so later.

    I tried a couple of days later again, it went through OK.

    Does it matter? Did you incur bank charges as a result of the failure to fund your Santander account? If not, just do it again.

    No, as a one-off occurrence at the time, it would have taken too much effort and time to look into - for no gain and no guarantee of a correct answer.

    Had the same two days ago & it looks as though the second attempt hasn't made it either. Tesco to Santander.

    If this one fails I'll send it somewhere else & try from there to Santander.

    (I know this thread is 6 months old, but finding it did reassure me somewhat, this morning)

    Seems a little odd that it took 24 hours to be unsuccessful.
    It's my understanding that FP inter-bank communication is realtime.

    Are Santander actually running all their own systems now? I had accounts at both A&L and Abbey and trying to integrate the systems was a horrendous experience, for customers that is.
    I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.
