There was a thread on here recently which seemed to provide evidence that lenders do get to see some sort of score supplied by the CRAs.
That has never been in doubt, as some smaller lenders ask the CRAs to provide them a score based on their own criteria.
However, this is not the same score provided to the customer.0 -
Consumers do focus on the score as the important element rather than the content of their report, as highlighted by many new posters first foray onto this forum. When I was 18, I was turned down for a credit card with my bank, presumably because I didn't have any credit history. I was a bit surprised, because it was a student credit card, and therefore surely INTENDED for those with no credit history!Have to agree with starting 0
Which is why whilst young and applying for credit some may have been advised 'you don't have any credit history'
I pointed this out to my bank in branch, who agreed it was silly and told me to apply again and they'd put a note on the application to this effect. I was declined.
I wrote them a letter pointing out how silly they were being, but told them I didn't care any more as I'd now got a student Barclaycard instead, and therefore informed them where they could shove their not-for-students student card. Naturally, a short while later, they sent me a credit card...0 -

Yup. I don't know whether it was because they smelled bad publicity, or wanted to compete with Barclays on a point of principle, or simply saw the light via my reasoned argumentJust to clarify - you mean they actually did! ?
