Electricity Only Cost + Switching Process

Hello,
I am currently with Extra Energy and live in a block of flats.
I use on average 10 units per day during winter time and currently get charged around 9p per unit of electricity in my electricity only flat.
My current deal expires at the end of the month and wondering if there are any good offers for my needs. I know the prices have gone up and looking at around 12P I think with SSE and a few others, though others are as high as 15 and 16pence per unit.
I'm also wondering how the switch process works and how long it takes and when to initiate it as I don't want to be on the next tariff by Extra Energy as it's far too high.
Thanks.

You need to do a comparison based on your annual projected usage in kWhs (not £s) along with your postcode. Best deals vary with usage and postcode.
The gaining supplier manages all aspects of the switch. Some, but not all, suppliers are signed up to 17 day switching but suppliers are allowed 35 days to complete the transfer. You will asked to provide a meter reading at the appropriate time. This will be validated by a 3rd party and then passed back to the two suppliers to close and open your accounts. The losing supplier has up to 6 weeks to issue a Final Bill from the day of transfer.
If you are on a fixed tariff with less than 49 to 42 days to run, you can initiate a switch now without penalty. Provided the losing supplier is advised of the switch by the gaining supplier prior to the end of your present contract, you will not suffer a tariff change even if the transfer goes through after the end of your present contract.
Note: some of the new suppliers do nothing for the first 14 days ( the cooling off days) so factor this in to your thinking about when to initiate a switch. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
