Citroen C2 - Clarion radio/single CD player - beeping like crazy

Hello,

We've recently got a 05 reg Citroen c2. It was bought 2nd hand privately.

Soon as you turn the radio on, you get a loud beep every other second - our mechanic friend disconnected the radio for 30 seconds - it carried on doing it.

I can't find any information in the manuals. Does anyone know what it might be? And how to remedy it?

If it helps, it's passed its mot & everything (bar the radio) works perfectly.

into google, loads of people have this problem, the consensus is it isn't the radio the car was born with, and there is a mismatch between the VIN number stored in the radio and the VIN number the car has.
Citroen can fix it, probably for more than a replacement radio costs though.
