ideally if you want a job fast then you should be sending 10 applications a day! I sent so many applications recently that interviews were clashing.....but got a job at DWP,still waiting for start date after being for under three months on the reserve list.... so cancelled all other interviews and now just waiting for checks to be passed....
so the more places you apply or go for interviews the more chances for you!

I graduated in 1981 which was a very stupid idea. I fired off 160 + applications for jobs/further courses and over the next year got five interviews, the last one getting me a post. I just kept refining the letter (and did voluntary work to update my experience).

As I got more qualifications and experience my interview:application ratio improved dramatically.

Just keep it up, and try not to be put off.

Interviews are the worst, i don't have good interpersonal skills and aren't well spoken, don't come across as enthusiastic, happy and willing for the job when I feel like I am. No amount of mock interviews, interview practice questions or training will help me no matter what anyone says.

Got my first job 2 years ago at a warehouse doing really physically intensive work in 12 hour night shifts, didn't even need interview. Got a phonecall, asked to come in to fill some forms in (h&s, contracts), started working same day, got fired 2 days later for being too slow. Not had a paid job since.

i always believe it is an acting game....after having loads of interviews.....basically you need to be someone else in interview...normally if you are not loud, motivated, enthusiastic be the opposite in interview.... I had to show that in interviews rather than being the 'shy' and unmotivated usual me....

basically if you are an introvert the personality doesn't express itself very well to others....so although I am motivated on the inside on the outside I seem quiet and not passionate about anything lol

By time you get to the actual interview they are probably going to be fairly satisfied that you are qualified and experienced enough to do the job as we as anyone else. At the interview they are more interested in finding our whether you are the sort of person they would like to work with.

If you don't know something be honest about it. I would rather someone admitted that they didn't know and were willing to learn than pretend that they knew all about it.

Above all, remember the "Ps" - punctuality, presentation, professionalism and politeness. Get those right and you are halfway there. Get them wrong and it doesn't matter how good your CV is.

i always thought i got the job or scored in top candidates when I could have a conversation with the interviewer and also give my view across....like if I asked them a question and they didn't answer it properly I said that 'but that doesn't answer my question'....and clarified things further...which showed I won't just be sitting back I will go further to make sure both parties understand everything.....skills not many people have....I guess this is why I start my new job as Manager!

Current role )nealry 4 years there) it took about 40+ applications, i did get quite a few interviews but i was honest about my disability and i think that put many off

Previous to that, i think it was the first i'd applied for, and the one before that was the first too, but this was pre banking crash when it was a lot easier (plus this time round id been off work for 3 1/3 years cos of said disability)
