Parking Ticket - wrong registration

Hi,
I'm sorry if that has been discussed before, but I couldn't find any relevant info, or clear information what to do.
I had an accident and was given a rental car for few days. When I parked on council parking last Sunday, I used wrong registration number (my own car instead of hire car) - genuine mistake. However I paid for the parking session in full via mobile app.
If it's relevant, it was Reading Borough council. I park on the same street pretty much every Sunday and same time.
Can I get some advise if I can appeal and how to do it successfully?
Many Thanks,
J.

You would be better posting this on pepipoo.com as they are the council parking specialists. We tend to concentrate on private parking issues here on MSE.
You will need an email address to register on pepipoo, but not Hotmail as it doesn't work with them for some reason.
Read the FAQs then post both sides of your redacted PCN when you ask your question there.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
I take it you have received a PCN for this or have the rental company passed it on to you?
I would think the best advice would be (as I always say with council PCNs) is to appeal within the discounted period explaining your mistake.
Enclose a COPY of the parking ticket that was issued from the pay and display machine along with a COPY of your V5 to prove that you are the keeper of the car which VRM you entered by mistake.
I am quite sure they will uphold your appeal at the first stage.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0
