Are brother and sister allowed to share a hotel room?

My DD wants to go somewhere special as an 18th birthday present, possibly New York or Tokyo. She doesn't have any friends who can go and it would be too expensive for the whole family, but her eldest brother is out of work at the moment so I thought of sending them off together (she gets on really well with him).
He's 24 and it would b just before or after her 18th. Can I book them a twin room (they don't mind) or will that be a problem with a hotel?

Why would it be a problem? And how would the hotel even know? Adults share hotel rooms all the time. Just make sure you stress you want a twin room, they're likely to see the same surname and book a double.

Don't think there would be any issue with it

I know plenty who have done it.

I (Female) have shared rooms with male friends and cousins and never had a problem

The hotel also won't know how their guests are related
  • Why on earth would it be any of a hotels business what the relationship between two people is?

    - be it 2 friends
    - husband and wife
    - a same sex couple
    - parent and child
    or
    - in this case brother and sister?

It's not something I'd think of myself - as it literally wouldnt occur to me to have a brother and sister sharing a room if one or both of them were over, say, 7 years old.

But - if they can manage to share it on the same basis as two heterosexual same sex friends - then that's up to them and none of the hotels business.

The hotel will just assume they are a couple anyway.

    hi

Unsure if it ll be much help but in the alst 3 years my brother(25) and I (32) have been to vegas 3 times and new york 2 times with no issues.

As posters above have said look for double-twin rooms, , making sure there is 2 beds in the room.

    hope this helps
