dont take it too seriously, the very fact that carbon saving enters your daily thinking means you are separate from the geneal public. these ridiculous calculators are there for advertising purposes and bear little relationship to real-life.Eeek Im 12.86, and my transport was 0! Mind you, I don't have double glazing (can't afford it), no central heating (found it was broken when I moved into house) house is too old for cavity wall insulation and built in kitchen (with knackered appliances) has loads of tiny built in ceiling lights!
I suppose the main culprit for C02 emissions must be my tiny little coal fire that I huddle by all winter!0 -

For many of us the travel section consumption dwarfs the other two.
Yet this travel section is something of a nonsense - particularly if you fly a lot as these really bump up your total.
A short haul flight is classified as within Europe, and a long haul flight as outside Europe.
So if you fly to North Africa(approx 1,500 miles) that counts exactly the same as a flight to Australia which is 8 times as far at 12,000 miles.
Also the type of plane makes a huge difference to the emissions.0 -
I have only flown twice:
1963 - taken to Jersey for a holiday with my grandmother
1998 - Bristol to Dublin for work for 2 days0 -
Household:3.57
Appliamces: 0.92
Transport: 4.710 -
My overall footprint is 5.59. But I don't have a car (I cycle everywhere), and I am flying for the first time ever this year which probably put it up by a little. But when it comes down to it, and considering my own piddly little contributions compared to industry and cow farts...I don't care**********************************************************************

Denbo we have a coal fire in living room the heat generated is pathetic, however in the dining room we recently had a log burner whilst it inst cheap to install it is far more efficient than a open fire, which is about 20-25%, a log burner is in the high 70's and early 80's, and is much safer than a open fire, and cleanerEeek Im 12.86, and my transport was 0! Mind you, I don't have double glazing (can't afford it), no central heating (found it was broken when I moved into house) house is too old for cavity wall insulation and built in kitchen (with knackered appliances) has loads of tiny built in ceiling lights!
