Fence post lights - how far apart
longwalks1
We have 5 panels of 4ft high fence down the side of our driveway and we want to fit downlights to the posts, with LED GU10 bulbs in. We can either fit to every post (6ft apart), or every other post (12ft apart).
Would on every post be too much do you think? after some suggestions before we fit them as don't want it too bright at night, but likewise do not want it not bright enough
Was thinking either 30w equivalent on every post, or 50w equivalent on every other post?

homebase have something similar seen them cheaper in the sale.
With 12ft apart you will have light/dark patches probably need a broader beam light.
what's the primary purpose, look good, light up walk way, security...
an option might be to have some look good low level with a couple of PIR activated for when in use and it needs to be brighter..0 -
Thanks gm4l
Primary function is to look nice and provide light for when we return home late (we will also have an up/down lighter either side of the front door too), but also as a bit of a deterrant too.0 -
Found the Homebase ones.
Ena double angled £6.
Seen single/double/angle/straight.
Still clearance stock about.
For that price one per post.0 -
I've got a few downlighters in my garden (there when I moved in), they are about 7 ft up the wall, highlight immediately below and are rubbish for lighting anywhere else. On my list of things to replace.0
