". I sent my actual license off at the same time and haven't had that back either so I'm guessing they're both stuck in the bottom of the phone box"

I think I might see where you went wrong!

That's exactly what I've done and I managed to tax it yesterday evening by finding the pics x

If you successfully taxed it with the DOCREF number off the "old" V5, then a new one has never been issued, and they haven't received your original form.

They likely sent the fine letter to the old address too :(
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
  • Why does this keep happening! Post box! Post box! hahahaha.

Am I looking at a hefty fine? X
What I did in the past having taxed the car was to phone the DVLA, explained what had happened and ask to pay the 'missing' tax. They calculated it at annual rate/12 per month. I paid the amount over the phone, no risk of a fine assuming one has not already been issued.

Just don't call the 0870 number as suggested by one poster as this call will cost you a small fortune. Go onto the website and look for a geographical number starting 01 or 02 or even a 03 number as this will then be included in your calling price plan

Call them on 0870 025 ****. Bypass all the options until the final option where you can speak to an advisor.
The 0870 number is a premium rate "call connection service" owned and operated by someone else.

They charge you a premium rate to forward the call onwards. This is little more than a scam.

Get the real number from the official website. In most cases the number will start 03 or 080.
