buying PPI

I need to make a credit card purchase for an essential item over the next few days, but working in the oilfield isn't the most stable of jobs at the minute and I want to make sure that my card payments are covered in the event of any loss of earnings.
I already have separate redundancy cover / income protection insurance, which covers my mortgage for the first year of any loss of employment, but though searching for how to buy PPI on my Halifax or Tesco credit cards produces pages and pages of PPI reclaiming advice, theres nothing about actually buying it anew.

Does anyone have any advice on how to go about ensuring my CC payments are protected in the long term, in the event of unexpected redundancy?

thanks
G
