Moneyexpert.com
We'be just had a person come to our door and 'persuade' us into using a company called moneyexpert.com to get a cheaper energy tariff. After doing a quick search on his iPad, confirmed we could save £58 a year. The entire time claiming that moneyexpert.com was an independent government organisation. However I fell for his charm and quick talking and signed up for a switch in tariff. I am now worried I have been ripped off and about to be the victim of fraud.
Has anyone used or heard of 'moneyexpert.com'? I have read about them using martins name (which I am not bothered about) but am I going to be ripped off, or has anyone else been a victim of these at all?

Hi - welcome to the forum.
https://www.moneyexpert.com
Nothing to do with moneysavingexpert.com or the Government AFAIK. Cancel your switch in writing with moneyexpert.com. Contact your existing supplier and ask them to prevent the transfer. When this has been done, come back to this forum for advice on switching suppliers.
The site is showing that it is Ofgem accredited; however, it is not listed on Ofgem's website ( it may be linked to a fully accredited comparison site). You can contact consumeraffairs@ofgem.gov.uk and ask if you are worried.0 -

Try reading it.... Money Expert is Mighty Deals parent company.
Would it help this to move higher up in search if I asked you again to clarify whether Martin Lewis has anything to do with Mighty Deals or MoneyExpert?
It may do, so thanks for asking. To clarify, no Martin doesn't have anything to do with Mighty Deals or Money Expert. Martin is the founder and editor in chief of MoneySavingExpert.com, and the two are entirely unrelated.0 -
We had them pop up at the door the other day. Seems like they get the same training as the door to door Mormons - exchange names without telling you why they're there, comment about you or your house (yes, I have got a fitbit on, no, I don't care your girlfriend got one for christmas) and then lead into the energy bills thing. Company name came right at the end of the pitch. Bearing in mind I told them fairly early on we'd only switched two months back, I don't know why they persisted. But hey, I was talking to them through a locked gate and they were the ones out in the cold, so I let them witter on for a bit.Mortgage

Their comparison site (for energy) operates under the name of Simply Switch. It is listed as that by Ofgem
The comparison site used to be listed here on MSE, but I think it was removed as they now pay cashback for switching even if you don't go via a special MSE link.0 -
I thought energy cold calling was banned obviously 3rd parties are still allowed to do this. Had these muppets last night they dont like taking "no" for a answer. Going to get a cold calling sign and stick it up on porch entrance and when call again and any other unwanted muppets I will politely point them to the sign and shut the door0
