    I work in payroll.

We provide duplicate copies of P60s all the time, for free (either by PDF or the spare stationery left over from year end). They are clearly marked as either duplicate or substitute though, obviously as others have said we cannot regenerate the originals.

It takes about 2-3 minutes in any respect to load the company up and set the date to 5th April and select the employee and run P60 for the corresponding year.

But this is probably so easy for us because of the software we use. I can understand for some companies perhaps things aren't always that easy.

Either way £25 seems like a lot but if it was something I desperately needed and there was no other way, I'd pay it.

Yup, we currently use a bureau, in our second year with them, and it would be really easy to retrieve any of their documents online. don't know if we'd be able to get at them if we changed to a different provider, suspect not! Prior to that, everything was sent to us as a hard copy, I always photocopied the P60s before giving them out, which you don't HAVE to do. So we have those copies, but they are not easy to access!

Our payroll is out sourced and they literally charge us for everything. If someone asks us for a copy of a P60, we pass on the charge.

I don't think there is necessarily a 'normal practice', it is something which each employer will decide / have its own policy for - and it may well depend on things such as how simple t is to prodice, whether it involves getting duplicates from an outside provider / physically retrieving stuff from archives etc.

As others have said, it may be simpler to check your month 12 payslip first , to see if it has the relevant information, and/or to contact the Student Loans Company for statemsnts first.

but if you do need the p60 then £25 as an admin charge doesn't sound particualrly unreasonable to me.

In 2010 I moved employers in February. The P60 for that year only appears to include tax and NI paid via the employer I moved to. What is the value of the P60 in this scenario i.e. one months figures.

Should I have received a P60 from the old employer as well? or do I use the figures from the P45 and P60 to calculate the total tax and NI paid?

P60s are only issued by whoever you are employed by on 5 April so no P60 due from last employer. When the system works correctly the P45 figures that are given to the new employer appear on the P60 as earnings in previous employment; but if the new employer does not get the figures in time as I assume has happened here they will not appear. National insurance details do not appear on a P45 anyway so they will never appear on a P60.
As you say you need to combine the P45 and P60 details to get taxable pay and tax details and for NI old payslips will give totals but probably not the full breakdown.
Might be worth checking the tax figure as if previous pay and tax are not on the P60 the tax deducted could be wrong.

If the figures are wrong in HMRC's favour then there's nothing to be done about it, too late to reclaim.

If w00 checks and finds s/he owes HMRC money, I am not sure how far back they usually go in checking such things.

I mis-read that as 2016 must be time for another eye test.

I cannot see "Previous Employment" NI Contributions on any of the P60s. Is that correct?

That is correct NI details are not carried forward to new employers as tax details are.
