P60 charge

I have worked for my currently employer for eight years.
I am currently trying to determine when my student loan will be paid off. I have all my payslips, P45's and P60's since 2000, except the P60 from 2015. I am very meticulous when I receive these documents i.e. I always scan them in as I know I will need them when I next check my outstanding undergraduate Student Loan balance.
My employer wants to charge me £25 for another copy of the P60. Is this reasonable? They are obviously assuming that I have lost it. However, I do not believe I received it as I would of scanned it in straight away if I received it.
Is £25 reasonable? I am happy to pay it if it is reasonable. It does make me a little bitter as I am a hard worker who works a lot of overtime without getting paid (I have never claimed overtime) and I am acknowledged as being good at what I do. I guess Finance don't know that. I don't even know anyone in Finance.

As there is no right to expect and the employer has no duty to provide a duplicate then reasonableness isn't a factor. It's down to how much you are willing to pay.
It is normally made very clear that a duplicate can not be issued so it's a bonus if they are willing to do it.0 -
TBH it does sounds reasonable to me.
I'm not clear why you need it for student loans, can't you just ask them how much is outstanding? They will have the info from HMRC so if you're due a refund you shouldn't need your P60.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Seems reasonable given they are under no obligation to do so.
If you'd chased it up at the time then I'd have said it's unreasonable but not nearly 2 years later.
Doesn't your monthly payslips show YTD figures?0 -

As Darksparkle has said - it might be worth you checking your Month 12 / Week 52 payslips against the corresponding P60s you have to see if the P60 provides any useful additional information before forking out £250 -
I do think that the charge is taking the mick a bit; charging is one thing but £25 is excessive in my opinion.
However, can you not phone the student loan company up and ask for a statement, they may be able to tell you the info you want, and may not charge/charge less?0 -
When I did payroll in a past job I often used to joke about charging for copies - but I was thinking more of £1 to charity rather than £250

To be fair, if someone asked me for a copy of their P60 from 2015, I'd need to get it out of our archive. It's not a trivial process - and somewhere I worked previously we used external archiving and there was a charge for putting stuff in and getting it out again.Signature removed for peace of mind0

That is what I thought. £25 isn't going to break the bank. I just wanted to make sure it is normal to charge this. I have spoken to a friend who works in payroll for fifteen years (she is now Payroll Manager for a large company) and she was "shocked". She said it only takes a few minutes to get a P60,and send it via email. However, the responses I have received from this post make me think it is normal practice to charge.
I have asked another question about student loan contributions here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5579650 Just thought I would mention it in case you get chance to take a look.0 -
Actually, I would say it's normal practice not to provide copies at all, as others have pointed out there is no obligation to provide one and it states on it "Please keep this certificate in a safe place as you will need it if you have to fill in a tax return".0

I don't know what the "normally" refers to. Though duplicate P45 are not permitted to be issued, duplicate P60s are allowed.
w00519772 - Try subject access request specifying you want the P60. Maximum they can charge is £10 isn't it?0
