How do I delete things that come up on the address bar, if you typed it before

Sorry, not sure of the title, but I want to delete names or things that you have typed on your computer in the address bar, from re-appearing everytime you put in the first word. For example, if I have typed in "argos", I dont want my PC to remember what I have typed. so if I then want to type "apple", I dont want the option of "argos" to come up.

I am not technical so this is the best I could explain. Any help will be appreciated.

In IE, on the menu bar at the top TOOLS / INTERNET OPTIONS / CLEAR HISTORY BUTTON.

    That should remove them all.

Tools - internet options - content- autocomplete- settings - uncheck web addresses, click ok

Previous post will delete previous history, my post will stop pc from doing it again ...I think!
  • thank you, all sorted. buyitall saved the day!!!

  • If its clearing individual dirty sites by the way, it looks a bit.. obvious.. if you delete the whole history, autocomplete entries, temporary internet files, etc. Makes it clear you're hiding something.

If you start typing the name of the site in question:
https://www.bigandbounc ..etc it should automatically show the rest.
Now just use the arrow keys to scroll down to the offending suggestion, and press the delete key.
Removes that one site from it's memory.

Failing that, get Firefox on a memory stick. Instructions here -> http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/tips#oth_usb
Run Firefox from the stick, and that leaves all the autocomplete, history, etc..on a memory stick. You just unplug it when you've finished looking at.. whatever it is you're looking at....and nobody is any the wiser ;)
