Bulging plasterboard and tiling in bathroom

Hi all
new to the forum and hope someone can shed some light!
thinking of redoing the bathroom but noticed our bathroom walls are bulging out in certain areas, all tiles are intact and no signs of cracking, so it seems to be where the plasterboards are joining where we could feel the bulges? anyone know if it would be a problem after taking the tiles down and retiling? is it just a case of putting more mortar to the back where the surface is not 100% level?
Thanks

Typed massive reply and lost it.
You need to strip back and see what you have. Speculating isn't really going to help but no, you wouldn't solve a plasterboard problem with mortar.
If the walls are plasterboard then it's entirely likely that the tile removal will render the plasterboard useless without your current problem anyway.
The wall surface probably needs to be stripped back behind the tiles and replaced.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Wall tiles very slowly expand over time. Many bathrooms have high humidity and timber stud walls. The end result can be bulging walls - my house had them in both the bathroom and shower room. However some stud walls were never straight in the first place - like mine in some rooms because the builder used standard rough sawn 3x2 timbers for studs.
To cure your issues you will need to strip back and start again with new plasterboard.0 -
Strip it all back. Then you will see exactly what the problem is. At that point, the remedy will also be quite clear.
In my experience the tile removal may well bring most of the plasterboard with it. Though you may be lucky if the tiles are on a previously painted surface.0 -
Similar problem here, hope you don't mind me asking on the same thread,
but I have 1 row of mirror tiles, which have lost their silvering, glued with tile cement to the plasterboard, above the bath.
and I have tried to prise them off without damaging the plasterboard, but
they don't want to come free !!
Any ideas how I can solve this, I intend to replace them with more white
6"x 6" tiles to match what's already below these mirror tiles,
thanks for advice too !16 x Enhance 250w panels + SolarEdge Inverter + TREES0
