Self Drive South Of France Eurocamp Holiday

Hey All,

Looking to spend a little less this year for our family holiday and wondering if anyone had any experience of Eurocamp holidays in the south of France?

We're a family of 5 with children 6/8/12 and I have 2 weeks off in the main summer holidays this year, Last year we went all inclusive to Gran Caneria but it cost me just over £5k and we dont want to spend anything like that this year.

Ideally i'd like somewhere close to a beach and with the accommodation either being tents that are already on the site or some sort of static caravan..

Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations ?

I cant imagine youll spend £5k doing that.

Tunnel will probably be your cheapest get over although worth looking at the ferries, adds a bit more to the excitement of going on holiday.

I went with 5 friends when i was ~18 near beziers which is good touristy spot although most of the south coast is touristy. Closer you are to spain ive found the cheaper things are (Nice, St Tropez, Cannes as you can imagine are a bit more expensive)

Eurocamp tend to have lots of facilities for kids so imagine, providing you pick a semi decent site, theyll be quite entertained.

Also found the price difference between their tents and statics arent hugely different.

South west coast isnt too bad an option either, probably not quite as 'sunny' as the atlantic around there is quite blustery (good for surfing!) which normally creates a haze but the area is nice, cheap, and sure you will find some decent campsites.

For me, family holidays to france, you cant go too far wrong. Just dont expect things to be as organised for you as they might be on your typical package deal. Ie you will have to look for day out rather than have a tour operators recommended days out.

ETA most campsites in france are far superior (in terms of facilities/entertainment) than anything youd find in the uk. Theres quite a few that fit in the same category as the like of centre parcs and will cost much less.

Most Eurocamp campsites also have other non eurocamp accommodation that you can book direct with the campsite and it's often cheaper.
    Google is your friend.
Yelloh village have a lot and also Pierre et Vacances.
Booking.com has campsites but don't book through them, google and find out if it is cheaper going direct.

Biot on the riviera has lots of campsites and is near a railway station, you wouldn't need the car when you are there.

Where in the UK are you?

The Vendee coast has almost as much sunshine as the Med but with lower prices and far less driving. I'd have a look there before deciding.

We and friends have stayed on a couple of these sites. Very good value, smaller sites and not many Brits so right for us. Plus they are in the Vendee on the West coast so shorter drive.

Thanks for all the comments so far.

We're in Birmingham, I've driven in France once before when we went to EuroDisney in 2016, which wasnt too bad (driving wise)

    I'll look into your suggestions

Don't under-estimate how dull the drive will be. We drove to the Alps this summer, and even stopping for a night both ways it wasn't much fun. Add in 3 small children, and you may want to stay at home!

Ive been to few as a teenager, can't remember the names but approaching the Loire Valley, and had an amazing time, I'm sure your kids will too. Good choice.
