just emailed them and said thanks i got them but i got them today just after lunchtime and i said seeing as you posted them kindly on the 20th to get to me yesterday special delivery and i didnt get them today they may want to consider complaining to the royal mail told them hopefully i can make it tomorrow but i have my doubts

You should definitely complain to the royal mail, I recently had a problem receiving something by special delivery too. they didn't redeliver on the day I arranged with them, even though I stayed in specially to receive it and the post didn't even arrive until 12.30, but the special delivery wasn't there.

Eventually I received the item a week after it was supposed to arrive. I complained to Royal Mail. Goodness knows if it makes any difference, but I think it's outrageous that they are charging people for 'special' next day delivery guaranteed by a certain time and then pulling tricks like they did on you.

As your tickets could not be used in time because of the late delivery I think you should ask for compensation - at least the face value of the tickets (plus perhaps a bit for 'pain and suffering' for missing an event you really wanted to go to and was supposed to receive tickets for). They must have insurance to cover this sort of thing. If they guarantee next day delivery and then don't do it, they should cough up. go for it.

PS. there should be a sticker on your envelope with a long code of digits and letters - this will be the tracking code.

Congrats on the win but I'm really sorry to hear about the hassles you are having. I'd definitely have a moan at the Royal Mail & I'm sure there is compensation available if the item doesn't arrive by the guaranteed delivery time.

the SD item may have been posted late.had this recently with a customer posting an SD item at 7pm in london expecting it to be in edinburgh for 9am.
though post office counters should have advised @ posting

I also won these tickets, collected them at 4.30pm yesterday as at work , and happy but dissapointed i missed a day already and it was impossible for me to go as i live nr manchester.If i had known sooner i could have arranged time off work,accomodation etc.Bit gutted really,i shall contact. If there is anyone that would like the ticket for sunday 23rd sept,they are welcome to come and pick them up for free tonight.i live near manchester
