Pip application

Options
I have finally been invited to apply for PIP to swap from my DLA. I have a question about the details they want though.
They want my gp's details but he knows very little about my disability as i see a neurologist and MS nurse when i need to who discuss my needs/treatment etc.
Would i be better off giving their details rather than my GPs?

You should be able to give the details of any health professionals that you see on the form.

These health professionals should be sending letters to the doctor about your treatment in any case.

However, rarely are the health professionals contacted (despite their saying they do). It is far better for you to contact the GP and ask for your records (you may have to pay for these) and also to contact any health professionals and ask for letters from them. These can be sent later if necessary but make sure you keep copies and put your name and NI number on any evidence that you send at the time or later.

    A useful guide here

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/help-with-your-pip-claim/fill-in-form/

but if you can can get help from CAB or a welfare adviser with completing the PIP form I would urge you to do so.

You should give the details of all of them, including GP.

Your GP surgery will hold your medical records which should include referrals made and copies of reports from consultants etc.

Others have found out to their cost that the DWP don't ask for information from whoever you put down, nor do they look back at your DLA claim. So fill it in as if whoever reading it has no knowledge of you or your condition from anywhere other than the form.

One poster (I hope she doesn't mind me putting this) found out that they didn't even understand the word 'paraplegic' meant unable to walk.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

That was me, the appeal judge actually shook his head and apoplogised while the welfare guy went a shade of red that I've never encountered. Didn't actually make it to the tribunal room as the lift was broken and the panel had read the pack so came down to apologise and send me home with a standard card, high mobility award.
