I got debt free
My debts were quite small compared to the average on this forum but still gave me sleepless nights and worry. My major turning point was quitting alcohol, I am 9 months sober now.

Well done you! Both those are great achievements!
I have also become debt free except for mortgage. We cleared about 30K debt partly with savings and bonuses and party with an unexpected windfallDebt free as per 22/12/16 -0 -

Kind of! I'll clarify...
I still owe £5,500 on a credit card, but my savings and investments have exceeded my non-mortgage debt, so I have assets worth more than my debt.
I'm not claiming to be debt free yet, but I could be if I wanted/needed to be!Loan [STRIKE]£5000[/STRIKE] £0; Overdraft [STRIKE] £700[/STRIKE] £0
Savings [STRIKE]£0[/STRIKE] +£1500; Share Portfolio [STRIKE]£0[/STRIKE] +£4000
£0 Credit Card [STRIKE]£6800[/STRIKE] £17000 -
No, but I had a LBM in September, signed up to YNAB and have cleared nearly £3000 off 21k since then! Going to have to slow down a bit over the next couple of months, but I have found focusing on the debt has made it seem less scary.
Congratulations to anyone who has achieved freedom from debt.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0 -
I fully intended to. But I was made redundant at the beginning of the year, and wasn't properly back in work until May time. Because of this the debts crept up again. But I still managed to finish the year with about £1000 less debt than I started.
Got some £2700 left and I think I can do it this year, or get close. Even more so if the collectors will accept a reduced settlement.0
