Fingers crossed your MIL gives it a bit of a rest this time, but from your recounts of previous visits I think this is wishful thinking!
Fingers crossed DH can get a better loan rate though, it's definitely worth a try:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Hi Kirsty, yes I can only hope...:rotfl: MIL seems a bit more frantic every time she sees DS. Soon she'll be wanting to move closer. My mum keeps saying she understands a bit as she wouldn't know what it would feel like to be so far away from her grandchild and that I should be more sympathetic. I am - to an extent - it's just that MIL doesn't seem to consider my feelings, only her own all the time. At least if it was my own mum annoying me I could tell her she was bugging me and to shove off for a bit.
:rotfl:
DH has applied for a loan with a better rate so we'll have to just wait and see. Won't hold my breath but you never know.
Washed my front door today and had DS in his buggy next to me. Had a wee chat with one of my neighbours as she'd come over to collect a parcel we'd taken in for her.
Then took DS a short walk for the first time with the buggy forward facing. He was fascinatedbut it was quite cold and I was worried I hadn't wrapped him up enough so we were only out for about 10 mins. Think I'll need to get a snow suit or something, I'm so paranoid about him being cold and his wee hands & nose were freezing when we got home.
DH has bought a new tv.:eek: A big fancy one of course. He has about half the money to pay for it so asked if he could get it and use one of my 0% deals to put the rest of the balance on. I agreed even though it will mean another £480 on the CC as at least it will be 0% this way.
He has been hankering after a bigger, better one for a few years now and I kept saying no.Our old tv is still really good to be honest (to me at least) but men and their technology. At least my mum can have our old one as the one she has just now is a bit rubbish/on the way out & she can't afford to buy a new one.
DH is hoping his mum and dad won't notice the new tv as they'll ask how he paid for it. :rotfl:
Both DH & I are off out to a retirement lunch tomorrow, so my mum is watching DS at our house. Looking forward to a child-free afternoon and a few drinks. Going to a Brazilian barbecue type place which is quite meat heavy but they have a nice salad bar with lots of sides as well.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Have a lovely lunch Sashy - I love those brazilian barbecue places and OH would live in one if I let him :rotfl::j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Thanks Kirsty, yes all the men I know would live there if possible. :rotfl: The food was lovely and had a good time but I really can't handle my drink anymore. Still feeling rough today _pale_ & it's more my stomach than anything. Think I need to learn not to drink too much, I enjoy a few but can't take the hangovers anymore.
Yesterday was a washout as I was feeling so ill, thankfully DH was fine and on a day off work so he helped out a lot with DS and looked after me as well.
Today I've managed to get a washing on, dried & put away, took meter readings for gas & electricity and submitted them online (going to do this weekly now), put a loaf in the breadmaker, do some hoovering, deal with cat litter (yuck) & wash dishes in between dealing with DS.
Gave DS some baby rice this morning & he was happy for a couple of spoonfuls then wanted his bottle. He took another 2 spoonfuls after his bottle and then I gave him water in a sippy cup. I don't think any of the water actually went in his mouth  more like down his top, over the high chair and over the floor  but he had a great time. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. DS had some porridge this morning & seemed to enjoy it more than the baby rice as he took more of it but maybe he is just getting more used to having a bit of breakfast with his bottle. I'll try him with the baby rice again but wanted to give him a bit of variety.
Made pea & broccoli purees for the freezer today, they are a bit lumpier than the others I've made. Also want to make & freeze some mashed potato for DS as well, just to try and get organised.
Also made a chutney today - only enough for one jar though. :rotfl: I halved the recipe as wanted to use some of the tomatoes we had grown & have stored in the freezer but didn't have enough onions etc to use the whole lot. It tasted really good though :j, it's been tucked away in the cupboard to mature, hoping to use it at Christmas.
The outlaws arrive on Thurs evening, not really looking forward to a whole weekend of baby stealing. My mum has been [STRIKE]summoned[/STRIKE] invited by MIL to have lunch with the outlaws as well. :rotfl:
I'm hoping to escape for a few hours on the Saturday night to my friend's house as she's having a few of our other friends over & haven't seen them all for ages. It's not like MIL will miss me. :rotfl: Going to get DS to bed before I leave though so I know he's settled. Thinking about just taking the car & not having a drink because I suffered so badly with the hangover last week.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Have you tasted baby rice? I think I'd prefer porridge too
All joking aside, Baby rice has no nutritional value at all. So don't worry if he doesn't like it.
Still shocked hes's not a newborn anymore
You should try and get out, it will be nice to meet up with friends x0 -
:rotfl: Hidden, he does seem happier with the porridge, I also have banana porridge for him to try.
Yes will definitely try to get out as the outlaws will probably be annoying me by Saturday night.
DH just casually mentioned that he's taking his dad out on Friday for a few drinks. This leaves me alone with the MIL & DS. Maybe I could sneak out? She probably wouldn't notice anyway. :rotfl:
Stripped the bed today & put the brushed cotton sheets on as it's colder now. Managed to get 3 washings done as well.
Tomorrow I'm dropping DS off with my mum for a few hours so that I can get some shopping & cleaning done before the outlaws descend. Ordered a snowsuit online for DS for when he's out in the pram so hoping it will be delivered to the shop tomorrow & I can pick it up whilst in town.
I feel like it might be a bit OTT putting DS in a snowsuit but he doesn't really have any proper jackets & I don't want him to be cold. Recently his hands have been freezing after taking him out in the pram. The snowsuit has mittens & booties that attach/detach with poppers so should keep him nice & snug.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Well, final night of the outlaws stay. :j
It hasn’t been too bad to be honest, still a bit annoying but MIL has calmed down considerably! :j DS still stolen at regular intervals but just letting her get on with it & taking him back when I need to.
Poor wee DS has had his routines all messed up though as he’s been too nosey to sleep during the day when there’s an adoring audience available. :rotfl:Instead of 2 hour-long naps he has been having 2 half hour naps. Have been making sure that he goes to bed around his usual time though, no way is he staying up late. He’d be one crabbit wee boy.
Not going to my friend’s tonightas she has been really ill for the last 2 weeks (but hadn’t told me!) & my other friends had all seemed to have forgotten about it anyway. I was quite annoyed at the forgetful/making excuses people as we could still have gone out for a couple of drinks so I could escape the outlaws!!

Glad there has been a MIL improvement Sashy! Maybe the new grandchild mania does pass eventually!
Sorry you haven't been able to escape for your drinks though!:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Thanks Kirsty, yes looks like there may be light at the end of the tunnel but we’ll see how she behaves next time. :rotfl: She was planning her next stay before she’d even left this time.
The new bee in the outlaws bonnet is what am I going to do with DS when I go back to work (because obviously it’s nothing to do with their son  you know, he’s only his dad).
I just told them I don’t know yet, probably DH will watch him as hopefully he will be off on the days I’m at work. They then decided to ask the same question every day as though I hadn’t answered. *roll eyes*
The other obsession was why don’t we have cushions for our benches in the kitchen diner. We have a dining table with benches instead of seats. They moan about it every time they visit & go and get cushions from the living room to sit on. :rotfl: I’m not buying cushions for the benches to keep them happy fgs. :cool:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
