Did car 3 push car 2 into car 1?
Or did car 2 hit car 1, then car 3 hit car 2 afterwards?
Now prove it...
As in DD's case, car 4 did that. In this case it seems the same as a queue normally has more than just 3 cars.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

In can fall into the pot of technicalities. Let say you are car 2 and you have stopped at traffic lights wwhen car 3 hits you and pushes you into car 1. Technically you should have applied the handbrake when you stopped because in the event you are hit from behind your foot may lift of the brake pedal causing you to roll forward rather than being pushed (rammed) forward. If you are the middle car in a 3 car shunt I'm not sure how you could be liable for damage to the car you got shunted into - surely liability requires fault?IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

It makes no difference as liability requires negligence
If a car hits me and sends me into another car how am i negligent?
Because you were at rest without your brakes on so were not in control?
Car 1 doesn't really care why Car 2 hit him, but Car 2 hit him so he holds them liable.
Car 2 holds Car 3 liable for damages to him and for causing him to damage Car 1 so reclaims this from Car 3.0
