Netflix Secret Codes

As I said in a previous post, thanks to my nephew, I've had Netflix for a little over a year now and have found finding content that I like frustrating.
Less than a week back I started to read about Netflix secret codes where you can more easily dig down into content that you're interested. I've tried a number of sites and well let's say it wasn't a complete failure but I had limited success. Most links will just send me to Netflix home page. But some links do work and that does indicate there is quite a lot of material out there !
My question is this does anyone know of a good UK based resource where I could pick up this information.
A few more general comments: do different codes apply to different countries, does Netflix keep changing them so that customers can't really see what's on offer?
Many thanks for your thoughts
Kevin

All these "secret codes" do are show you all films in a specific genre, they don't allow you to access any more content than you normally can and definetly don't let you see content from other countries.
Personally I find netflix is pretty good at suggesting content that I like and coming up with categories based on how I rate each program/film. Do you rate each program as you watch it because this seems to have a big influence on what content it suggests to you. So maybe you should spend some time doing this and see if it improves.0 -
As I understand it the genres are broken down into sub genres for example below I've listed the sub groups for Anime listed genres http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/### a much bigger list than you'd find on Netflix own search page, the idea been you replace the ### with the appropriate number e.g Anime Action would show as http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/2653 showing 32 films in that particular group)
HERE is one sites complete breakdown. It certainly seems much more comprehensive and easier to find a movie, than Netflix own search categories. But as I mentioned above the links do not always work.
Romance would be a case in point under Netflix romance section there are 201 titles but if you wanted a romantic comedy (5475) then that particular link doesn't work but romantic dramas does http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/1255
Most of what I watch I do rate. I also appreciate that this won't show what's on other Netflix regions or excess to them
Anime: 7424
Anime Action: 2653
Anime Comedies: 9302
Anime Dramas: 452
Anime Fantasy: 11146
Anime Features: 3063
Anime Horror: 10695
Anime Sci-Fi: 2729
Anime Series: 6721

I just search Netflix for new things to watch.
I've just come across THIS RESOURCE again it is an American site but a lot of the links do seem to work here in the UK e.g. http://Netflix.com/browse/genre/869 will list dark comedies. While on the other hand http://Netflix.com/browse/genre/7018 will give political documentaries
If you know what type of movie you want then this seems to be a better way. The only downside I've discovered so far is that you find the movie on the internet and then enter the name of it into your Netflix search bar0 -
I on't understand ... is that an incomplete sentence?
.
What I was trying to say was; using these Netflix codes to find a film is a two stage process.
The first step is to decide, from the supplied list, the genre you want e.g Dark Comedies and enter that SPECIFIC. CODE into the Internet address bar on your computer, tablet or phone. I'm using Safari on an iPad mini. That should throw up ALL of what Netflix considers Dark Comedies you then choose a film from that list say 'Fifty Shades of Black.'
Secondly you take the name of the film you want and key it into the Netflix search bar on your television. That should find the film for you, then proceed as normal . (I'm assuming you are going to be watching on your television and not a computer.)
That's what I meant by 'the only downside' you've got to carry out the operation in two stages
Hope that clears things up

See whenever I find something I like I have a look at the other films/box sets similar to what Ive just watched.
I find out whats new on Netflix just by googling it or set the notificatons setup for new content.0
