We are thinking of getting Sky TV but want to watch TV in our lounge and bedroom (not at the same time).
We have heard about a magic eye which allows you to watch Sky in both rooms but can't find much information about it.
Can anybody tell me what this magic eye allows you to do. Can you just watch the TV with it. Can you watch recorded TV with it also.
Many thanks

The official name is TV Link now, though some older products still go as Magic Eye but the principle is the same.

Note that if your intention is to watch two different channels in two different rooms, the only way to do this (on one account) is with Sky Multiroom. Otherwise the TV Link (which connects to the second TV's analogue TV input) will only show what's on the main box on the second TV. It also has to be wired so wireless is not going to be an option.0 -
...HD is also not possible via TV Link.
It's really a rather redundant technology. Sky Q has content streamed wirelessly to other TVs around the home..0 -
Thanks for your replies.
2 questions if I may.
Do I actually need the magic eye (tv link) connected to the sky box by a cable. When I had one previously I dont remember a cable.
Can I watch everything I have recorded in the 2nd room ??
There are only 2 of us so there will only ever be 1 tv on.
Many thanks0 -
yes, magic eye works over cable , I used existing aerial cable from the front room to the loft and connected to cable to other rooms aerial socket
I still use magic eye as it goesEx forum ambassador

I've got Magic Eye in the kitchen and bedroom, from my Sky box in the living room.
You need to run an aerial cable from the RF OUT 2 (?) output on the Sky box, and this goes into the RF IN (aerial) on your (bedroom) TV. You then tune the analogue (remember BBC1, 2, ITV, C4, C5 only?) tuner on your TV into your (switched on) Sky box. On an auto tune, it should be the only 'station' that gets picked up. You then see EVERYTHING the box is outputting - live, recorded, menus, HD, SD. It's obviously limited to analogue quality but it's really not that bad, depending what you're watching.
The magic eye part, then, plugs in between the bedroom TV and the aerial. It gets power from the Sky box, and you put the little IR receiver under the bedroom TV. This takes the signal from your Sky remote, and sends it to the Sky box down the RF cable, so that you can control the Sky box from your bedroom.
It's old tech, sure, but it works! On the way out with Sky Q which doesn't have the RF output...0
