good garden solar lights

I'm looking for something to help illuminate my garden steps enough for me to go up and down them after dark. I'm not able to install any electric lights there for one reason or another. We get a fair amount of sun for most of the year here in Hertfordshire so that should do the job. I don't want string lights or stake lights as I already have coloured string lights across the top decking and want to leave them out should I want to use them in the summer and, stake lights wouldn't work as the steps are made of decking. These steps join the upper decking to the lower decking where we have a new cabin.

Solar lights seem to vary so much so just asking for any recommendations, thanks.

Amazon stock a brand called Frostfire. They come in all shapes and sizes. They are a bit pricier, but they're definitely worth it. We've been using ours for almost five years.

Thanks, I bought two of these and have more on order. They are certainly well made and, even with the lack of sunlight, seem to give out a decent light.
  • I've just bought a bulb shaped outdoor light from Wyevale garden Centre for £3.99. It is battery operated. Once the battery is in, you press the 'on' button at whatever time you want the light to come on every day. It then stays on for four hours. The next day, it comes on at the same time and stays on for four hours again.

It's a cheap fix to light up my steps, and so far I'm pleased with it. It comes on at 5.15 and stays on until 9.15. When I want to reset it, I just take out the bulb and re-insert it, pressing the 'on' button at the new time.

I had Mr. Beams lights once and they weren't very good. I won't waste money on them again.

That's good, I'm ordering some more for my back garden too. We have them at our static caravan and in our front garden. I actually wouldn't buy any other brand now.

Hope you'll be happy with them :T
