I tried using my tumble dryer the other day, not used it for quite a while. Although it started off drying my washing after after 5 minutes or so it went cold. Left if off a while and tried again but the same thing happened. Does anyone know why this is or do I need a new one?
Thanks

Hi mine has done this a couple of times over the years it turned out to be the thermostat on both occasions! We called someone out and they charged us £50 odd to fix it, but we later found out we can buy the part for about £5 on ebay and we could do it ourselves - will be armed with the part for next time!! Hope this helps!:heart2::heart2::heart2: I LOVE MY BEAGLE! :heart2::heart2::heart2:0

when mine done that, again it was the thermostat. Luckily it was ynder warrenty as it went 4 times in 2 years, then i stopped the warrenty, and the belt broke! luckily my uncle could replace it at a cost of £12.99 for the belt online.£2 Savers club £0/£150

What machine is it?
Sorry to someone like me that works with the appliances that is like saying to a car mechanic, "I have this car... it doesn't work... what's wrong with it?".

This sometimes happens to mine. There's a little switch at the back of the dryer that cuts out when there's a blockage of water in the tube that comes out of the machine (the elephant trunk thing). I just empty it reposition it, press the switch and it's ok.0

Hi just checked and its a Servis 2144, quite an old model, I haven't really used it for a while but due to the bad weather tried it the other day only to find it keeps going cold. Any idea whether its worth trying to fix or should I just buy a new one?
I checked on the back in case there was a switch (as suggested by Magenta Wolves) but no switch to be seen.

The only real things that could cause it, or likely causes, are the stats being a bit weak or the element insulation failing I'd imagine. The most likely is the stats TBH but without being sat in front of it with a meter it's hard to be entirely sure.
No, there's no reset on that machine, usually you'll only find those on Crosslee produced dryers.
