The Wedding Fund

Options
Hi, I'm Laura.

I've spoken about my wedding fund on the debt free wannabe board but I thought I'd make a diary dedicated to saving.

I'm saving for one thing in particular this year - my wedding.

I'm getting married on 5 November 2017, to my wonderful fianc! Tom. We've been together ten years so it was about time!
We were going to wait until 2018 however, I have a very ill grandfather so we have moved it forward to hopefully accommodate him. It means a lot that he will be there so hopefully he will be.

I have a strict saving budget. Unfortunately we can't throw all our money at saving because we also have some debts to pay off - mainly hire car purchase agreements (x2 cars), sofa on credit and of course the mortgage.

I don't have a strict budget for the wedding - around £8000-£9000 pounds (it cannot exceed £10,000 at all and I hope to not come close to this!). I am aware this is an awful lot of money but I only intend on doing this once!!! And I don't want to look back on the day with regret. I also don't want to start married life with a huge credit card debt around my neck, although we have conceded that there will be a little on the credit card as a consequence of moving it forward.

To date we have £2448 in the wedding fund (which doesn't seem like a lot at all)

We have also paid £500 deposit for the venue, £100 deposit for the photographer and £50 deposit for registrar so we have made a start! :D

    Hi Laura!

I will be eagerly rooting for you. My situation is much the same as yours - budget about the same, although our Wedding is earlier, May. Brought forward as my dad is not well.

    Good luck to you.

  • So, operation Bridesmaid shopping happened on Saturday. It was very successful- 3 dresses sorted and under budget by £60! I've brought some irregular choice shoes for my bridal shoes (I wanted something s bit different!) which were £35 instead of £79.99 so I'm super happy about that too! Will pick them up tomorrow.

I've also managed to save a lot on wedding invitations- pack of 10 at clintons were down to 99p! They don't necessarily match my 'theme' or colour scheme but they were cheap and have saved me an awful lot of money so I don't really care!

  • Not each bridesmaid will have an impeccable figure or a same body as the others. Each bridesmaid will have an alternate body sort. A bridesmaid dresses may look great on one yet in the meantime it may resemble a screw up on the other. So selecting a dress ideal for each bridesmaid at the wedding is an absolute necessity. The other most essential element is the texture.
  • Bridesmaid dresses are sorted - we found something that flatters all 3 bridesmaids, who do all have very different body types.

As the wedding is in November I'm going to try and get 3 navy shawls to go with them too. Hopefully I'll find something cheap but nice - budget is a massive factor here!

On a plus - found some wedding invites at £50p per pack of 10 at Clintons. Don't care if they don't fit nicely in my 'theme' when they're that price!!!!!!

Best of luck with your saving goals :) We get married a month before so are also saving at the moment. Shawls wise, I've bought one on Am@zon for a fiver for a wedding last year and the quality was brilliant, so could be worth looking on there.
