Hi
I have just sold a car on ebay clearly displayed spares or repair and it was won by a buyer 70 miles away with no feedback who didnt ask any question prior to bidding. he has now contacted me to say he doesnt want the car (no suprise there!) but can he have my address to send me a £50 postal order for compensation and so i dont open a dispute.
does this sound dodgy??? i know that in order to mutually withdraw that i have to open a dispute anyway.
Can any harm come of me giving this person my address? Can he see it anyway as part of the payment process?
any advice would be grateful
Thanks

He can get your address of ebay anyway, but why be afraid?
Just take the postal order and relist it.
Deadbeat bidders are almost unavoidable these days...0 -

not that much of a deadbeat bidder if he is willing to pay £50 compo, he could do as many others do, NAFF ALL!!!0 -
Will £50 cover your fees? If so, I'd go for it. At least he's willing to compensate for his mistake.
Make sure it's a legit postal order... and be ready to open a dispute if it doen't show up. (NOT a mutual)My TV is broken!

probably get loads of stick for posting this but
if its a car thats worth a bit of money he may want your address so he can come up and nick it
you never know nowadays
dont know if they still do it but there was loads of cars nicked from car parks in blackpool and the guys had like shopping lists of which cars which were needed to complete there order to ship abroad0 -
TBH it's as spares/repairs so can't be worth that much.
Does sound fishy to me though, as if he's gonna send you the £50 then come round and nick it, and claim to the police the £50 was payment for the car, afterall he "won" it in an auction.
May be best getting the money sent to a friends house, preferably one who lives in a high rise

does sound a little dodgy.
why not open a 2nd bank account and give them the details to deposit the money directly?0 -

He's got no way of proving he even sent you the £50, let alone that you received it. Ebay won't back him up either, so there are really no worries on that front. My TV is broken!

Give him a friends address to post it to. ie some one that lives other side of town.
Did you notice what time he emailed you. was it just after the pubs kicked out and he might a felt guilty after a few:beer:.0
