Hi all,
Following a couple of insightful posts here in the past I realise my Santander 123 Credit Card isn't the best value.
I'd like to switch from that to AMEX Card.
What is the process to cancel one card from a bank and join another one?
I'm rubbish at credit cards so seeking your knowhow.

Log on to Santander online banking.
Then click on 'Help Centre' >>> FAQ's >>>> How do I close my account?
Log on to https://www.americanexpress.com
Then click on 'cards' >>>>>> Credit Cards.
Decide which one you want and then click on the 'Apply Now' button0 -
Don't even think about closing the first account.
Apply for the new card.
See if you get it.
If the Santander card is currently your only card, it would be foolish and unnecessary to cancel it. Keep it in reserve and/or to use in places which don't accept Amex.0 -
Thanks both, especially Ben for making a good point!0

the santander 123 has a monthly fee of £3.
best therefore, to get a couple of non fee charging cards (unless they have benefits that suit you) and then cancel the sandander card.0 -
