Where to stay in Barcelona

Thanks for all advice, as long as we're close enough to most things, but not too far away from anything either (with a 2 year old) we can hopefully make the most of the city.0

What about looking to stay in Eixample? Again on map it looks pretty central to locate ourselves and hotel prices not coming up too shabby...0

Eixample is the centre and the Gothic quarter is the old, cultural centre.
Before the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, it used to be said that the city had turned it's back on the sea, so all the seafront and beaches were redeveloped for the games.
What kind of budget are you looking at for a hotel, because if you do choose Eixample, there's a real variety of accommodation there. I've only stayed in the Sarria and Glories areas, but would like to stay at the Pullman Skipper next time. At the other end of the scale, Barcelona has some of the best hostels in the World, so you have every level of accommodation very well catered for.
I sgtrongly recommend that you do a little google street map walk of any hotel you're interested in to give you an idea of the area.0 -

Hi we went in march this year and stayed in Ca La Maria. Its the top end of the city right on las rambles. Lovely boutique hotel with lovely lady owner and fantastic old house. Enjoy.0

We love Sitges. It has excellent beaches and great restaurants.
It depends on your priorities. If you plan to spend more time on the beach than in the city, choose Sitges.0
