Having had a year of ill health my GP has decided that my varied symptoms may be caused by food and has put me on the FODMAP diet.
This is an exclusion diet where you eliminate foods that feed the "bad" bacteria in your gut which pump toxins into your system. Only one slight problem - the number of foods which need to be eliminated!
Ready for this long list of no-no's:
no gluten,
no milk (goats, cows or sheep) or products from these except for hard cheese,
no maize,
no mushrooms,
no aliums (onions and garlic to you and me),
no brassicas,
no green peppers/chillis,
no fruit except bananas, melons and citrus,
limited sugar
limited dried fruit,
limited fruit juice
no honey,
no fructose,
no pulses,
no soy,
no fennel,
no artichoke,
no beetroot,
no sweetcorn,
no asparagus,
no sweeteners ending in "-ol"
DH - ever helpful, brought me something to cheer me up when he heard all this, hagan daas chocolate cookie dough icecream
I feel that I have had baked potatoes (without butter:sad:) and tuna until it is coming out of my ears and would really like some help from you lovely people to save my sanity in 2017.
Anyone up for the challenge?

I'd be interested in this, having just spent two weeks suffering from a stomach bug I feel that my poor tummy needs a bit of a rest. I may not go the full on route though.0

I'd find the no onion/leek/garlic aspect the most difficult.
Burgers can be made so easily at home. I grew up with homemade burgers and continued doing so into adulthood. Actually, I made one flavoured with curry powder and it was SO good! You need mince, salt, pepper and I had a squirt of tomato puree. You can replace the salt with gluten free soy sauce. In fact the range of gluten free foods readily available is now amazing.
I also found this blog, link below, when I was searching for how to cook without garlic or onion. Having had a look through she seems to have a lot of recipes and has a lot of experience with FODMAP, in her case due to ibs.
Good luck with your new diet!

Maybe you'll find it helpful to list some of the things you can eat - rather than the ones you can't - and treat it as an excuse to try new things/combinations?
This site seemed to have an extensive list: http://www.ibsdiets.org/fodmap-diet/fodmap-food-list/That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Are tomatoes ok? Do you eat meat and eggs?
Any of these appeal? Bacon, egg & chips; steak and chips; pork chop and cheesy/herby mash; frittata with spuds and bacon in; salmon cooked in lemon juice and bay leaf; chicken breast wrapped in bacon; chicken cooked in tomato and paprika with mash or rice; nuts for snacks. Some people eat rice cakes (add peanut butter?) but to me they taste and feel like polystyrene!
More thoughts: Roast parsnips and other root veg/courgettes, aubergines. Crisps.
Breakfasts - are oats ok? Also look at g-free rice krispy things. G-free bread is usually maize-heavy but T?sco rolls aren't, though they do have apple in - not my first choice of bread but sometimes you just need something easy to carry - would suggest you study ingredient lists of all the shops you have access to, if pack-ups are needed. Tapioca and buckwheat are gluten-free.0 -
I can't see much problem with this, at least for main meals - just eat traditionally, meat and two veg.0
