This is one biographer’s point of view but Clementine Churchill comes across as a far more insightful and politically sensitive lady than many of her generation gave her credit for, and in many ways a more balanced personality than her husband. An enjoyable read.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
"No man is worth, crawling on the earth"- adapted from Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio
Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

The Book of Dust - Phillip Pullman.
I hadn't read His Dark Materials for about 13 years so thought I should go back and read as this is a prequel - I didn't but it really didn't matter. It was like coming home.0 -
It isn't often that I give up early on, but I rejected this one about 10 pages in. I found it far too dense a read, and although the idea of a female Archbishop engaged me at first, the thought of 500 more pages of hard work made me shudder.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0

ooo, I'm waiting for it from the library!
whilst I was last in the library, one of the volunteers, saw me looking at crime books, and said 'this is brand new, do you want to borrow it?' ... I do love a NEW book. it was really good ...
'the deepest grave' by Harry Bingham. Fiona Graves is a police officer and works in wales. She is slightly 'odd' but I loved the book so much, I have just ordered the whole series so I can get to where she is now!0 -
I just finished reading The Olive Readers by Christine Aziz. I would give this book 7/100

currently reading a story about a naive South American Traveller, trying to understand and fit in, in metropolitan London. the book goes on to detail his problems understanding the transport system, traditional shops and many other things native Londoners take for granted.

I read it when it first came out. Thought it was a great book until the ending which I thought was rushed / didn't really fit.0 -

6/10. This was a fun anthology of lists, nothing serious but I did discover a new (to me) word that applies to me: Tsundoku. It is the Japanese term for acquiring reading materials but letting them pile up in one's home without reading them. If only there were more hours on the day!
This is totally me! I buy any book that takes my fancy...whether recommended or just pretty cover...and my to read pile just grows and grows! Hope this thread will continue next year!Money saved for Christmas 2018 £6/£500

I have been absent too but want to get back into reading. Am presently reading How Not To Be A Boy by Robert Webb. Very honestly written and love his dry sense of humour.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!
