Have spent a happy hour kondoing my wardrobe. Two big bin liners lighter. Also painted my nails (to cover the unsightly white ones for the time being).

Off to IKEA tomorrow, going to buy some crockery and refresh some of our kitchen bits that are getting a bit tatty.

Sugarbaby. I really need to deepclean the house......the spring sunlight highlights the winter grime.:rotfl:

    Hi all.
Just back from a lovely weekend in Cornwall with my "boys"
Weather was beautiful and showed the stunning scenery off to its full advantage.
Lots of walking, good food and people watching from pavement coffee tables.
I wore some new trousers when we went out to dinner one evening that are a size smaller than normal so it's good to be heading in the right direction. I did overindulge a bit during the weekend but back on track now.
Need to get a hair and nail appointment organised for next week...both have grown very quickly.
I've been reading all the posts - sorry not to reply to them all but a big cheer for you, Indie; lovely to read what a positive outcome you've had from changing eating habits.
And LL - onwards and upwards; your Sister has chosen to make her bed; hopefully you can leave her to lie in it whilst you concentrate on living a good, adventure filled life.

    Hi Fabbers,

Just a quick update from me. I have been around, but work has been hectic and there has been lots of unhappiness at work.

I've just bought some new skincare - the La Roche-Posay effaclar range, which was recommended to me. Its for sensitive but spotty skin, which is what I have. So fingers crossed it improves my skin.

I also bought some capri pants from Sainsburys this week. I'm in desperate need of new clothes for work, but I want to do it on a budget.

Today is my last day in the office and I will be off for the rest of the week (although I don't work Fridays). DS has chicken pox so he can't go to school. He isn't 100% himself, but he's pretty close. I'm going to take him out for lunch one day to try and cheer him up.

Hi all, day 15 of the head cold from hell, deffo not fab, just seem to want to sleep a lot and not be bothered with very much, also really hacked off that I cannot visit my DB in hospital, he is 60 miles from home and the days hang heavy and he gets down if no-one is able to visit, rest of the family are doing their best, but have to go ro work too. Being retired last occasion he was there OH and I were able to "take up the slack" and visit often:(

LL - so pleased that all the family stuff is now dealt with, sorry that you are not well, probably inevitable outcome after all that you have been through, sending healing vibes:)

Sugarbaby - I hope that you are soon fit and well.

Indie - I too love reading of your interests and travels, you are doing so well with the healthy eating and exercise.

Sorry for anyone I have missed, lovely to read all your posts and distract myself from all the family's health problems for a little while.

We have had some lovely warm and sunny days, which make me feel almost human, but back to grey and cold again:(:(:(

That's a good idea. I was going to suggest sending him a care package e.g. playing cards, puzzle book, adult colouring in etc. That way, he can have some things to entertain him.

    Hello Ladies,

Indie, I would not take Wayne back no matter what. Each time I talk to him, it just reminds me of why he could never be worth taking back. If he was the only man that wanted me, I would still prefer to be single. There is simply some behaviours that are unforgivable. :( I am getting a £26 refund from Virgin trains as apparently the train was delayed that I should have travelled on to Birmingham and the refund is automatically generated if the train is significantly delayed. A welcome surprise. As I have been ill and I do not earn enough to qualify for SSP, then doing the deep clean will be welcome extra hours. In fact I will also be working 10am to 3pm on Thursday and Friday as well now. :) I need the money and I need the job satisfaction even more. :)

Glad to hear you are so resolute on Wayne. Looking back I let my ex off an awful lot of bad behaviour before finally breaking up with him. I still miss his company but I don't ever want to let someone treat me like that again.

Good bit of luck with the trains getting your refund and pleased to hear you're getting some extra hours to make up for what you missed when sick, sounds like it wasn't so bad missing the trip after all.

Glad to hear you had a great holiday. Bet you enjoyed wearing the smaller trousers - I am enjoying shopping so much more now I am finding what I thought of as my regular size is too big - certainly beats the times when I've found it getting too small, which wasn't that long ago.

Thanks Maddiemay, and I hope you feel better soon and can visit your DB again soon.

I have to admit when I stand back and look at my life now I barely recognise the girl who moved to London nearly ten years ago. I had a view quiet life down in Hampshire, if I wasn't home in the evening it was almost always working late or shopping, not socialising. I did see a trainer to do some exercise once a week, but only found a hiking group shortly before I moved to London and didn't really meet any kindred spirits in the group. No dancing, no trips to the theatre, no yoga... No wonder I spent so much of my spare time watching the TV. I was told by a friend I was making a mistake moving to London - it's such a lonely place, she said. Am glad I ignored her, I was lonely before I moved here, not now.

Had a good night at Ceroc, didn't sit down much at all. Took the opportunity to wear one of my fun Emily and Fin dresses which I took to work with me before I shrink out of it and got a complement from on it from one of the other girls there.

Actually at least that dress is alterable - zip is at the back so I could take the side seams in. I have some with size zips and they are going to take some more thought... will have to enlist my sister's advice, she is quite creative with a sewing machine. I know I could just give them to charity and I expect I will give quite a few items away, but I have some dresses I love that are just leisure use ones that I really don't want to throw out as they've had so little use. Plus I have been meaning to get into sewing my own clothes for ages as I am fussy about colours and styles, so starting with alterations would help me develop my skills.

Went to an interesting event on Monday - a short talk on anxiety by the psychiatrist Raj Persaud who you might have seen on the TV and a film to prompt discussion, which was Sully - the one about the pilot who landed the plane on the Hudson river. He was saying anxiety is very treatable but success relies on confronting the thing you are anxious about and having the motivation to get through it. Rather explains why my mum hasn't got better - her approach has always been to avoid everything that makes her anxious and fight hard anyone who pushed her on that, and her only motivation is to complain a lot looking for sympathy.

Challenged me a bit too though - I avoided pushing myself for promotion at work as I was worried about a period of stress which led to me being signed off - the promotion process is pretty stressful and I didn't want to make myself sick. But I had been thinking about going for it, and this talk strengthened my resolve somewhat. If I can get myself promoted the pay rise should help me pay off the mortgage more quickly and be able to think about cutting my hours back to 3 days a week once it's done. Would still be at least a decade away - but should be better than the nearly two decades if I don't overpay.

Right, better get going or I'll be late for work. I hear today is going to be a lovely warm day so have a good day all x

So pleased for you indie. You've really turned your life around. Fantastic!:T

Good to see you posting ellsbel. It was spooky as the day you posted I'd been thinking about you. I wondered how you were doing and whether, like me, you were wearing your Raybans in this glorious sunshine.

Sorry to hear you've got that cold Maddie. I'm convinced it's a particular strain that's around this year. Mine miraculously disappeared while I was away. One day I was coughing and spluttering, the next day clear headed and fine. I don't know whether being out in fresh air every day helped but I was glad to see the back of it. Just hope it doesn't come back.:)

I'm particularly delighted with my hair at the moment. So much so that I've made an appointment to have it done again before Easter (trim and highlights) as I'm determined to keep it that way. I always fall into the trap of leaving it get too long and losing the shape. I need to find another beautician locally for an eyebrow wax as mine has closed down because of problems with the lease (i.e. it ended and the rent rocketed). I've been tidying myself but it's not the same.

Out to lunch today and the sun is shining. I've put on a fine wool sweater, pencil skirt and sheer tights (but I might change the sweater for a blouse as it's warming up) and I'm going to wear heels and a jacket. It'll probably be winter again by tomorrow so I'm making the most of it.:D

    Hello lovely ladies.

Quick post - I pad playing up.

Indie .....thanks for the book r commendation. Have read it cover to cover. Lots of Aha ( no not the pOP group although i think they are fab :rotfl:) adrenal book arrived today so will read through that then go through both books with a notepad.

I definitely think I will take the "natural" approach as far as possible. I react so badly to most drugs, either that or they simply don't work the way they are supposed to. (I'm just plain weird.....:rotfl:)

I've got nothing to lose me and everything to gain. I would much rather tackle the root cause than merely mask symptoms. The goal is optimum health and longevity bearing in mind the watch word "vitality".

Indie.....I agree you have come a long way in your journey and have made fantastic progress. I aim to follow in your footsteps.:D

A bIt dull here but the sun is expected later, so I'm going to tackle the windows and then get outside.

    Have a great day. :)
