Chanie - my hairdresser is horrifyingly expensive, but if the new local one doesn't work out, and you're interested I can PM you the details of where she used to work in London. Just off Oxford Street - I used to get the train up to see here when she was there for a few years.
  • LL, thank you for the inspiring post, as always! I hope your planning is going well and I think your journal will make very interesting reading :) an old friend of mine has recently split up with her husband after 20 years together and is trying to plan her new life without him, she is an inspiration to me too. They have two teenagers who are still at school who are being a great help, and rather than fall to pieces she is planning and getting out making new friends and seeing old ones. Very proud of you both :D

What a great time you have with your singing and dancing sugarbaby, if I was able to get out and about without babies I would definitely enjoy a night out like that!! I'm actually getting a bit worried about my night out next Friday, partly because OH is still so rubbish at looking after the babies, and partly because I really am depressed about my size. (Thank you to indie for trying to talk some sense into me about that!!). I'm still going to make the effort though as I do think I'll enjoy it once I get there, and a (very occasional!) night out will do me good.

I still haven't got round to the meal planning maman as I've felt so rubbish for over a week now, no energy for my exercise DVD or food shopping. I need to get a GP appointment as my blood GFR isn't great in the latest test results - I have a dodgy kidney - and I think I have some sort of infection as I can't get rid of these mouth ulcers :(

However I'm going to make a concerted effort to work in food planning and more exercise for next week - the cleaning rota has made a big difference, I just wish that I had more spare time in the evenings to get things done!

For mascara maman, I have the Clinique Naturally Glossy one which was recommended for contact lens wearers - it's pretty good for defining my lashes, treated myself with my Boots points - I always liked Maybelline Great Lash as a bargain buy too :money:
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

Have tickets to see Ruby Wax (Frazzled tour) with youngest on Friday.

How was the show? I really admire Ruby Wax - having suffered with mental health problems she goes off and studies to a high level, publishes books and goes out talking about it. If only my mum was inclined to take such a positive approach to trying to get over her mental ill health.

Is your OH actually dangerous with the babies or does he not do things as well as you do? I sometimes suspect some men of playing the slightly inept game with anything that looks a bit like a chore in the hope their wives / girlfriends will take over. You need some time to escape the house and let your hair down with friends and if that means accepting he isn't going to be quite up to your standards then it's still worthwhile. If you were sick or something he would have to cope, so am sure he can manage an evening without you and if not... well, at least he will appreciate how hard it is looking after babies. [end lecture ;-)]

I've had another busy week, second night out with friends and not drinking. We actually ended up being quite a sober group, out of six, two of us didn't drink at all, two just had the free prosecco, and only one got drunk, and she ended up leaving earlier than most of us. Usually we walk home together as we live opposite but she didn't even ask if I wanted to go with her - and to be fair, I wasn't really ready to leave. Bit worried about her - she always seems to get plastered on nights out and though she has sometimes put it down to being with other heavy drinkers (another woman who wasn't out with us last night) she definitely didn't have that excuse last night. I don't think she is an alcoholic or anything like that as she doesn't drink home alone and isn't out every night. But definitely inclined to binge drink and I don't really see anything in her life as an interest other than socialising which I am not sure is healthy. She split with her boyfriend about 3 years ago and though she was loving being free at first I think she's finding being single a bit depressing now. Which I totally get, but I tend to fill up my life with lots of interesting activities and not just drink based events. There's too much I want to do to waste my Saturday or Sunday with a hangover.

Got a friend coming over for lunch later and then off to a Ceroc workshop tomorrow afternoon so plenty to keep me out of mischief this weekend. Had a couple of late nights so going to have a quiet night at home tonight and catch up a bit before my class tomorrow.

Have a fab weekend all x

Thanks for the swimwear recommendations, we shall check them out tomorrow! We're going into Leeds so plenty of places to shop and I wouldn't mind a wander around the new shopping centre if we have time although I gather it's quite pricey.

I'm going out for a meal in Manchester tonight with some friends. The timing isn't great but it's been planned for a while and I'll enjoy it when I get there. Plus I get some chill-out time for myself on the train!

I think jeans and a nice jumper are the order of the evening. Warm is good ;)

    - I think we might have to hunt quite hard for nice swimwear as it's a bit out of season and she doesn't want a bikini. I want her to be comfortable but perhaps the Speedo costume you'd wear to do laps at the local pool isn't "it"?

Have a look in tesco they seem to have loads of swim suits in every store i visit. They are really nice with flatterng cuts. They bring them out every jan for the new years resolutions

    Good morning lovely ladies

Some lovely chat on here. Good to see us all happy and making progress on our journey to fabdom.

Well not much news here. I have had a quiet and sort of introspective week. I have been doing a bit more decluttering, but mainly getting the junk out of my head.

My father's death raised a lot of issues that have been lying dormant but I have been quietly working my way through them, confronting some demons. Not the most pleasant of exercises but one I think that had to be faced and which will ultimately help me move forward.

The good news is I have lost 1lb and my sleep is improving, still a bit erratic but I have had a good 8 hours on a couple of occasions and it is definitely starting to make a difference.

Yesterday would have been my 34 year wedding anniversary. Last night DS1 was away in Newcastle with pals watching Derby FC lose so DIL and I went to see La La Land and have a meal. I did enjoy the film, I found it charming but I can see why people are divided in their opinion of it. I won't say any more just in case. I too watched Inferno last week. I did enjoy it but I have to say I don't think Tom Hanks is the best choice for the Robert Langdon character, not "cerebral" enough and it has to be said rather too "chunky" :rotfl:

I also watched Jackie.......found it rather disappointing but I did like looking at the clothes........remember the pink and navy Chanel suit she wore when JFK was shot. I had a pink and navy coat very similar. It was the first coat I ever bought myself when I first started work. It cost me a weeks wages at the time but I loved it. Wished I'd kept it......it would be an iconic vintage piece now. Ok mine was only a copy Chanel obviously but it was nice. Even cheaper clothing back then was far better quality than what we get now.

Looks like another nice day here so I think I will do Aldi today so I am free to do something else tomorrow - maybe go into the city centre and have a mooch round the shops, go for a coffee or lunch. Haven't done that for a while.

I too will be on the look out for nice beachwear, well I have got two cruises lined up this year and I want to look glamourous.:D. I must admit I do like to see summer clothes coming into the shops. A sign that spring isn't far away.

I have to say I am so glad to see the back of January. It was light here last night until 5.30 - much better.

Hope you all have a great week.

    Keeeeeep fabbing.:D

I went to Aldi last Sunday LL and it was horrendous:eek:. It may have been the fact that it was the first pay day after Christmas for some but there were queues to pay up the aisles despite every checkout being open. I generally time my shop for when mums are picking their children up from school but last week I had too much on. I do hope you fare better.

I know what you mean about the quality of clothes. The other thing that was better was the choice and availability and not just in clothes. There were more independent shops with proper buyers so you could get something that wasn't duplicated in every shop and High Street in the country. Computerised stock control doesn't seem to work well either. We've all been to shops where they've run out of things or sizes not available. I think that's because suppliers have to be able to stock a whole nationwide chain.

Good news about the weightloss. I'm sure as you start to feel better (be kind to yourself it's barely a week since the funeral:A) it'll be easier to stick to plan and cut out any comfort eating. The advance of Spring will help too as it always lifts the spirits.

Not much happening here in the coming week which I'm pleased about. Eating out is enjoyable but it interferes with healthy eating. After today (I always have treats at weekends) I will have some alcohol free days with all healthy food and I'm looking forward to it.:)

It has been a funny old week here at MM towers, but have survived and lots of positives:D i.e. a goodly amount of fabbing, a wee amount of kondoing, one whole night (last night of sleeping through without visits to the bathroom, first for about 6 months), meeting up with most of the family at an event which we were all very apprehensive about, but in reality was pretty joyous. A young (well half my age so young to me!) member of extended family marriage ceremony and reception, sadly her fiance has a very short time to live:(:(, but to witness their deep love and commitment was an honour and it was an amazing day:)

Eyes tested and bright and cheerful new specs now being worn, and hearing test arranged for replacement of lost hearing aid made, also other tests and medical appointment now made and to be worked through during the next two weeks or so.

IBS has been evil, but gradually finding a range of things that I can eat without too much harm and have ordered myself a wedge type pillow so I can (hopefully) get some sleep in a more upright position, as mentioned by others, lack of sleep is an absolute killer.

Still lots of work to do to make things on my goals 2017 list into a regular habit, rather than a now and then thing, but overall not doing too badly.

Hope that you are all having a good Sunday:D

Maddie.....have you tried silicol gel for your IBS. It also works for GERD too. I took it last time I had a bad flare up and am using it again this time.

I'm afraid it's not easy to take, bland and tasteless that's ok but the texture is a bit weird. Thankfully my symptoms are easing due partly to reduced stress obviously but also a combination of being very careful what I eat and dutifully taking my meds.I think sleeping better is also helping.

MAman. I decided against Aldi in the end. It's not as sunny today but still mild so I went for a walk in the park instead (trying to increase my step count). I'll do Aldi tomorrow, as you say Sundays can be a bit busy.

Just going to plant some bulbs - a bit Late but they are sprouting nice healthy green shoots so they might be ok. Then a cuppa and a manicure.

Joint of beef in the slow cooker and the veg is all prepped so nice and easy today.
